MARIA MAGDALENA Öl auf Leinwand.
40 x 40 cm.
Verso auf dem Keilrahmen sehr alte wohl aus der Entstehungszeit stammende Aufschriften in Blei und Tinte, mit einer Künstlerbezeichnung sowie einem frühen Besitzervermerk „Signore Bugatti“.
Der Namenszug auf der Rückseite möglicherweise ebenfalls von der Hand Segantinis. Ferner Aufschrift in Blei „Ritratto Magdalena“, ebenfalls auf dem Keilrahmen. Mit Sammlerstempel.
Dem Gemälde ist eine Expertise von Prof. Enos Malagutti, Mailand, vom 20. Februar 1979 beigegeben.
Kopfbildnis der anmutigen jungen Frau mit Blick nach unten, das Gesicht von oben wirkungsvoll beleuchtet. Der Farbauftrag entsprechend der Malweise des Künstlers pastos und zügig.

Probably very old inscription in pencil and ink with the artist’s name and the name of an early former owner, „Signore Bugatti“, on the reverse of the stretcher. The name on the reverse could possibly be in Segantini's own hand. Stretcher with a further inscription in pencil „Ritratto Magdalena“. With collector's stamp.
Accompanied by an expert’s report by Professor Enos Malagutti, Milan, dated 20 February 1979.
Head portrait of a charming young woman gazing down, her face effectively illuminated from above. The paint has been applied quickly in a pastose manner typical for Segantini.
