Beiliegend ein Gutachten von Zimmermann, Berlin 3. Mai 1957.

Rest. (1020961) (12)

SEASCAPE

Oil on canvas.
38.5 x 57 cm.
Remains of a signature at centre.
Framed.

Accompanied by an expert’s report by Zimmermann dated Berlin, 3 May 1957.

The seascape depicts a vast expanse of glassy sea, with numerous ships anchored at low tide. As is typical for the artist, a high, overcast sky with low-lying horizon stretches out above the ships. Dubbels, who lived in Amsterdam all his life, worked in the studio of Simon de Vlieger (1601 - 1653) in the early 1650s. But his works were also influenced by Jan van de Cappelle and both van de Veldes. Works by the artist are held at the National Gallery and the National Maritime Museum in London, the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum, the Prado in Madrid et al. Restored.

This object has been individually compared to the information in the Art Loss Register data bank and is not registered there as stolen or missing.
