Im unteren Zentrum der Darstellung eine Hirtengruppe mit Rindern und Schafen an einem Steinbrunnen mit obeliskartigem, figürlich gemeißeltem Aufsatz. Daneben eine weitere antike Vase auf hohem Podest sowie ein hoher Säulenstumpf. Die antiken Denkmäler vor dem Hintergrund einer Baumgruppe, die im Spätabendlicht steht. Links zieht die römische Ruinenlandschaft nach hinten, überzogen von abendlich beleuchteten Wolken. Das Hirtenpaar in gestikulierender Bewegung wiedergegeben, dazwischen als origineller Einfall ein Äffchen, das auf einem Esel reitet. (1011665) (10)
