Der Arbeit ist ein Zertifikat des Künstlers mit der Nummerierung „CM 30“ beigegeben.
Nach dem Studium an der Accademia di Belle Arti in Neapel fand der Künstler rasch in der ihn umgebenden spektakulären Natur um den Vesuv seine Hauptinspirationsquelle. Dabei bediente er sich für seine abstrakten Kunstwerke natürlichen Materialien, um Farben, Atmosphären, Schatten und vor allem Licht wiederzugeben. 1955 reiste Emblema finanziert durch das Rockefeller Stipendium nach New York, wo er Mark Rothko und Jackson Pollock begegnete. Es war vor allem Rothko, der Emblema nachhaltig beeinflusste. Werke des Künstlers befinden sich u. a. im Metropolitan Museum, New York, dem Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam oder Galleria Nazionale di Arte Moderna in Rom. (1012661)
