Bronze, dunkelbraun patiniert, sogenannte Ercolano-Patinierung. (1011697) (12)

Naples, second half of the 19th century.

Bronze, with dark brown so called “Herculaneum” patination. This exceptionally beautiful, unsigned example originates from the Chiurazzi foundry in Naples, the only foundry authorized to make recasts of the antique treasures of the Archaeological Museum in Naples. The present horse sculpture is a smaller scale version of one of the quadriga horses from Herculaneum, which Chiurazzi brought out after the unification of Italy.
