Die dem Gefolge der Diana angehörende Callisto wurde von Jupiter verführt woraufhin Juno sie in eine Bärin verwandelte. Der Künstler zeigt den Moment in dem sich Jupiter begleitet von seinem Adler auf einer Wolke der schlafenden Nymphe nähert. Ihre Zugehörigkeit zum Gefolge der Jagdgöttin wird durch einen Bogen, den die Schlafende hält, sowie einen Köcher angedeutet. Ein kleiner geflügelter Armor wendet sich im Gespräch Jupiter zu, der der Nymphe zärtlich die Hand ans Kinn gelegt hat. (1011296) (12)
