Als Doktor der Rechtswissenschaften und Kunsthistoriker war Agathon Klemt eine bedeutende tschechische Persönlichkeit. Er wurde Maler ohne jegliche künstlerische Ausbildung. Er war ein reiner Autodidakt auf dem Gebiet der Malerei, was angesichts der Qualität seiner Werke bemerkenswert ist. Klemt war ein sehr begabter Portraitist, der zahlreiche tschechische und österreichische Persönlichkeiten portraitierte, darunter auch Frantisek Palacký. Dieses Portrait befindet sich heute im Nationalmuseum in Prag. Neben den Portraits widmete sich Klemt auch der Genremalerei, Illustrationen und Altarbildern. (13406517) (13)
