Malerischer Blick auf die Brücke und die umgebenden Häuser mit grünlichen Fensterläden. Auf dem ruhigen Wasser nähert sich von hinten rechts gerade eine Gondel.
Antonietta Brandeis studierte in Prag und ab 1867 als erste Frau an der Akademie in Venedig bei Michelangelo Grigoletti. Sie blieb in Italien wohnen und malte überwiegend Veduten verschiedener italienischer Städte.
Anmerkung:
Ein fast identisches Gemälde der Künstlerin, jedoch mit anderer Positionierung der Gondel, wurde bei Bradford‘s Auktionsgalerie in Sun City Arizona, USA am 26. Juni 2022 unter Lot 2143 versteigert. (1341873) (18)
