Vorbild dieser in Carrara-Marmor gearbeiteten Figur ist sicherlich der Toro Antico der Antike, welcher durch Francesco Antonio Franzoni restauriert und von Papst Pius VI erworben wurde (Vatikanische Museen Inv. Nr. 396).

1734 wurde Francesco Antonio Franzoni in Carrara geboren und begann in seiner Geburtsstadt auch seine Ausbildung, bis er sich in den 1760er-Jahren in Rom niederließ und sich auf die Restaurierung antiker römischer Skulpturen spezialisierte. Neben Papst Pius VI arbeitete er auch für den Palazzo Braschi.

The model for this figure carved in Carrara marble is certainly the ancient Toro Antico, which was restored by Francesco Antonio Franzoni and acquired by Pope Pius VI (Vatican Museums, inv. no. 396).
