Zu dem vorliegenden Gemälde, das Pignone zugeschrieben werden kann, gibt es drei Vergleichsbeispiele. Einmal das Gemälde in den Uffizien (Inv.Nr. 1890) mit den Maßen 117 x 93 cm. Desweiteren ein Gemälde, das unserem Gemälde bis auf winzige Unterschiede (Höhe der Hand des mittleren Putto, Balustraden der rückwärtigen Architekturen und Falte des Tischtuches) gleicht. Dieses Gemälde war zunächst bei Julius Weitzner, New York, 1963 und dann bei Antichità Bacarelli, Florenz, 1973. Desweiteren befindet sich eine oben rundbogig abschließende Version des Gemäldes in der Kapelle des San Luigi in der Kirche Santa Felicita in Florenz. Rest.
Anmerkung:
Ludwig IX wurde 1297 heilig gesprochen und lebte bereits zu Lebzeiten das Leben eines „prud’homme“, dem Eigenschaften wie Höflichkeit, Mäßigkeit, Vernuft und Tapferkeit zugesprochen wurden und der Frankreich auf den Höhepunkt der Macht und des Wohlstandes verhalf.

The present painting, which can be attributed to Pignone, has three comparative examples. The first is held at the Uffizi Gallery (inv. no. 1890) with the dimensions 117 x 93 cm. Secondly, a painting that resembles our painting except for tiny differences (height of the hand of the central putto, balustrades architecture in the background and the fold of the tablecloth). This second painting was first held by Julius Weitzner, New York, 1963 and then by Antichita Bacarelli, Florence, 1973. There is also version with half-circle at the top held at the chapel of San Luigi in the Church of Santa Felicita in Florence. Restored.
