Das hier vorliegende qualitätvolle Gemälde entstand wohl während des 2. Jahrzehnts des 17. Jahrhunderts, also in der reifen Zeit des genannten Künstlers. Gut vergleichbar ist etwa das „Wunder der Madonna von Caravaggio“ (Palazzo Comunale, Caravaggio) und den „Verkündigungen“ Procaccinis in der Chiesa di Sant' Alessandro, Mailand, und in der Certosa di Pavia. Procaccini war vorwiegend in Bologna und Mailand tätig, sein Beiname „Vasari della Lombardia“ verweist auf seine Tätigkeit als Maler und Freskant.

The high-quality painting presented here was probably created during the second decade of the 17th century, i.e. in the late creative period of the well-known artist.
