„Diese Collage entstand als Entwurf für eine Schallplattenhülle mit Musik Igor Strawinskys; von der Komposition her spielt sie die Forderung des Künstlers nach Umsetzung von musikalischer (oder optischer) Bewegung in bildhafte Gestaltung, wie er es in seinem posthum erschienenen Lehrbuch „Vision in Motion“ ausführte“. Moholy-Nagy wurde 1937 Direktor des „New Bauhaus“ in Chigaco, 1938 gründete er die „School of Design“.

Label by Galerie Valentin, Stuttgart on the reverse with details regarding the work on offer for sale here: “This collage was created as a draft for a record sleeve with music by Igor Stravinsky; in terms of composition, it plays the artist’s demand for the implementation of musical (or optical) movement in visual design, as he did in his posthumously published textbook “Vision in Motion”. Moholy-Nagy became director of the “New Bauhaus” in Chigaco in 1937, and in 1938 he founded the “School of Design”.
