Figural bronze chandelier

115 x 70 cm.
France, mid-19th century. Probably after a design by Henry Dasson (1825 – 1896).

Bronze; cast, chased, gilt and patinated. The three-dimensional cherubs contrast with the gilt-bronze and are probably based on a design by Henry Dasson, who had a very successful workshop for gilt-bronze mounted furniture in the styles of Louis XIV, XV and XVI in Paris.

Literature:
Compare C. Mestdagh, P. Lécoules, L’Ameublement d'art français 1850-1900, Paris 2010.
