Rechteckiger Kasten, versilbert und emailliert, Innenkorpus in massivem Obstholz. Der Kasten von vier Sphingen getragen, nach oben sich leicht verjüngend, entsprechend dem ägyptischen Stil. An den Seiten, in vertieften Kassetten, emaillierte Szenerien, gemäß altägyptischen Wanddekorationen. Der kantig hochziehende Deckel besetzt mit einer liegenden weiblichen Gestalt, die eine Schale mit Vogelkopf hält, geschmückt mit der oberägyptischen Pharaonenkrone. Zwischen den Eckapplikationen des Deckels mit Sachmet-Symbolen, Falkenmotive mit ausgebreiteten Schwingen, sowie Hieroglyphenauflagen.
Anmerkung:
Gustave Baugrand wurde 1826 geboren (andere Quellen sprechen vom Jahr 1827). Sein Vater, der seinen Nachnamen „Beaugrand“ schrieb, war Juwelier und lebte ab 1842 in der 52 Rue de Richelieu. Gustave absolvierte seine Lehre in der Rue de Richelieu, nahe der Nationalbibliothek und der Gärten des Palais Royal, unter deren wunderschönen Arkaden sich zu jener Zeit der Handel mit Luxusgütern installierte.
