Das Gemälde ist abgebildet im RKD Den Haag unter der Nummer ONS9500062.
Die Darstellung des Gemäldes bezieht sich auf das Alte Testament (Genesis 6:14-16). Auf einer Anhöhe die übergroße Arche des Noah, deren oberer Teil nicht gezeigt wird. Sie ist umgeben von zahlreichen Bäumen unter blau-grauem Himmel, der das nahende Unwetter schon ankündigen könnte. Ein langer hölzerner Steg, auf dem bereits einige Figuren und Tiere erkennbar sind, führt zum Eingang der Arche, an dem Noah in braunem Gewand mit Begleitung die Ankommenden erwartet und begrüßt. Der Vordergund des Gemäldes zeigt die hervorragend wiedergegebenen, friedvollen Tiere mit Bären, Pferden, Füchsen, Ziegen, Eseln, Kühen, Katzen, Affen und Hunden, einer Taube und einem Uhu sowie links unter einem Baum ein Elefantenpaar. Qualitätvolle Malerei und gelungene Umsetzung des biblischen Themas in harmonischer Farbgebung. Malerei auf zwei zusammengefügten Holzbrettern.

Das Gemälde wurde sowohl bei Christie's in London am 11. Mai 1994, Lotnummer 62, als auch Sotheby's Amsterdam am 6. Mai 1997, Lotnummer 23, und bei Millon & Associés am 24. Juni 2005, Lotnummer 14, zur Versteigerung angeboten bzw. verkauft. (12407211) (1) (18)
