Floris Gerritsz. van Schooten,
1585 – 1655

Auf einer Platte ein durch wenige Falten gekennzeichnetes, graues Tischtuch, auf welchem ein von links nach rechts absteigendes, keilförmig angeordnetes Stillleben ruht. Die vorderen Früchte reflektieren das von links oben einfallende Licht reizvoll: Trauben verschiedener Couleur und Pfirsche wechseln sich vor dem abschließenden Stillleben ab.

Anmerkung:
Diese Stillleben mit dem eng aufliegenden grauen Tischtuch gehören zu einer Werkgruppe des Haarlemer Malers, welche uns gelegentlich auf dem Kunstmarkt begegnen. 1918 entdeckte Abraham Bredius, dass der Monogrammist FVS oder F.V.S. ident sein muss mit Floris van Schooten. (1230166) (1) (13)

Framed in ripple moulding and tortoiseshell frame with gilt strip.

Notes:
This still life with the tight-fitting grey table cloth is part of a group of works by the Haarlem painter which occasionally appear on the art market. In 1918 Abraham Bredius discovered that the monogrammist FVS or F.V.S. must be identical with Floris van Schooten.
