Im Mittelpunkt des Aquarells ein junges Mädchen mit langen blonden Haaren in einem blauen Kleidchen, auf einer Treppe mit Eisengitter stehend. In ihrem linken Arm hält sie einen Laib Brot, von dem sie wohl gerade mit dem Messer, das sie in ihrer rechten Hand hält, eine Scheibe abgeschnitten hat.
