Der gezeigte Adler mit hochgestellten Flügeln auf einem Gipfelfelsen. Viele der Gemälde des Malers entstanden aus naturwissenschaftlichem Interesse. So kennen wir neben den romantischen Landschaften auch einige Vogeldarstellungen wie etwa das thematisch ähnliche Motiv "Adler die auf einem Alpenhorn nisten" - eine Fantasie aus der Alpenwelt. Weiterhin aber auch einen "Schwan im Mondlicht" sowie gezeichnete Vogeldarstellungen aus seinem Skizzenbuch von 1861/63. (1151472)
