Zweifach gebuckelter Fond mit glatter Hohlkehle und breiter Fahne. Reich mit Reliefallegorien dekoriert: Im Fond Rundmedaillon mit Darstellung des Gottes Mars. Der Kriegsgott auf Rasensockel sitzend mit Rüstung und Schwert. Im Hintergrund eine brennende Stadt. Der abgetreppte Buckel mit vier Querkartuschen mit weiblichen und männlichen Allegorien: Bellum, Invidia, Pax und Abundantia. Auf der Fahne Einteilungen in vier querovale Kartuschen mit den vier Erdteilen sowie trapezförmigen Kartuschen mit berühmten Feldherren der Geschichte: Caesar, Ninus, Cyrus und Alexander Magnus, dazwischen Groteskenfiguren und Masken, mit Frucht- und Banddekorationen. Feiner gratiger Erhaltungszustand. Rep.
Anmerkung I:
François Briot war seit 1580 in Montbeliard tätig, 1585 wurde er zum "graveur de son excellence" ernannt. Zuletzt erwähnt 1616.
Anmerkung II:
Die Ornamentik geht auf Vorlagen des bis 1583 in Straßburg tätigen Stechers Etienne Delaune zurück.
