Der fahle Körper Christi, vom Kreuz abgenommen, wird in einen Sarkophag gelegt. Über den Korpus gebeugt ist im Hintergrund Maria zu sehen. Die Gestik der Dargestellten drückt tiefe Trauer und Bestürzung aus. Die Darstellung in gedeckten Farben ist vor einem dunklen Hintergrund platziert, nur der Schein einer Fackel ist zu sehen. Beleuchtet wird die Szene von rechts außerhalb des Bildes, wodurch ein schöner Hell-Dunkel-Kontrast entsteht. (1370765) (19)
