Funktion:
Gewichtsgetriebenes Monatsgehwerk mit Scherenhemmung, verschlossenen Aufzugslöchern und Gangreserve, federgetriebenem Stundenschlagwerk, temperaturkompensiertem Rostpendel mit Temperaturzeiger auf der Linse. Funktionsfähig.
Gehäuse:
Amarant- und satinholzfurniertes Eichenholzgehäuse mit prachtvollen feuervergoldeten Louis XV-Bronzen.
Zifferblatt:
Zweigeteiltes, versilbertes und feuervergoldetes Messingzifferblatt mit Sekundenziffernring, Ausschnitt zur Anzeige des Schaltjahres, vergoldete Zeiger sowie gebläuter Zeiger zur Äquatationsanzeige aus der Mitte, im unteren Teil Ausschnitt zur Anzeige der Jahresstellung im Schaltzyklus und des Monatsdatums.
Anmerkung:
Grenier war Uhrmacher des Vieux Palais. 1780 präsentiert er in der Akademie der Stadt Rouen ein von ihm konstruiertes Sekundenpendel und 1790 eine These über astronomische Uhrwerke. 1796 baut er auch astronomische Uhren und schreibt eine Abhandlung über Schiffschronometer. (1330582) (13)

Dial signed and dated “Pendule à Équation par Grenier à Rouen 1778“.
Rouen, 1778.
Accompanied by an expert’s report by Hans Kreft, Sint-Huibrechts-Lille, Belgium dated 21 May 2008 in copy.
Functions:
Weight-driven monthly movement with scissor escapement, sealed winding holes and power reserve, spring-driven hour strikig mechanism, temperature-compensated gridiron pendulum with temperature gauge on the pendulum bob. In working order.
Case:
Oak case with amaranth and satinwood veneer and magnificent fire-gilt Louis XV bronze fittings.
Dial:
Two-part, silvered and fire-gilt brass dial with seconds chapter ring, aperture to display the leap year, gilt hands, and blued hands to display the equation from the centre; the lower part with aperture to display the year in the switching cycle and the date of month.
Notes:
Grenier was clockmaker of the Vieux Palais. In 1780 he presented a seconds pendulum he had constructed at the Rouen Academy and in 1790 a thesis on astronomical clock mechanisms. In 1796 he also built astronomical clocks and wrote a treatise on ship’s chronometers.
