Für den Maler typisches großformatiges Gemälde mit einer Kombination von Stillleben und Gruppenbildnis, wobei dieses in einem Fleischhandel verortet wird, was durch den Ausblick auf ein innerstädtisches Exterieur und den Holzladen, der in der rechten oberen Bildhälfte zu sehen ist, deutlich wird. Auf dem Gemälde nicht nur der Händler, sondern auch Kunden zu sehen sowie ein Junge in der rechten unteren Bildhälfte, der im Begriff ist eine Schweineblase aufzublasen. Der in Antwerpen wirkende Maler war auf Marktstillleben mitunter spezialisiert und so befindet sich eine weitere Ansicht von 1565, die jedoch einen biblischen Kontext hat, im Nationalmuseum Stockholm unter der Inv.Nr. NIM323 und, jedoch seitenverkehrt, ebenfalls im biblischen Kontext eine solche im Rijksmuseum Amsterdam unter der Inv.Nr. SKA1451. Besonders Fischmärke sind von Beuckelaer bekannt, so etwa in der National Gallery London unter der Inv.Nr. NG6586 oder in Kombination von Fleisch, Fisch und Gemüse im Louvre unter der Kat.Nr. RF2659 (datiert 1566). Oft wird der biblische Bezug zu Christus im Haus von Marta und Maria wiedergegeben. Rest. (1290575) (13)

The painter, who was active in Antwerp, specialized in market still lifes and so another interior from 1565, which has a biblical context, is held at the National Museum Stockholm under inv. NIM323 and, however, inverted, also in the biblical context one in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam with inv. SKA1451. Beuckelaer is particularly well-known for depictions of fish markets, for example, a painting held at the National Gallery in London under inv. NG6586 or a combination of meat, fish and vegetables held at the Louvre under cat. RF2659 (dated 1566). The biblical reference to Christ is often given in the house of Martha and Mary. Restored.
