Beigegeben eine Expertise von Dr. Klaus Ertz, Lingen, vom 6. Oktober 2020, in Kopie. In seinem Gutachten des vorliegenden Gemäldes, das Dr. Ertz im Original gesehen hat, hebt er die gute Erhaltung und die hohe Qualität hervor. Ertz schlägt eine Datierung in das erste Jahrzehnt des 17. Jahrhunderts vor, wobei die Figuren aus der Hand eines Künstlers aus der Umgebung des Figurenmalers Hendrick de Clerck (um 1570-1629) stammten.
Das großformatige Bild lebt vor allem von den zentralen „Leitbäumen“, deren Stämme sich manieriert in die Höhe schrauben. Das fein gefiederte Blattwerk ist in vielen Grüntönen abgestuft und setzt sich von dem Himmel im oberen Bereich ab. Die von fremder Hand stammenden Figuren nehmen sich klein aus gegenüber den mächtigen Baumgruppen, wodurch die Wirkungsmacht der Natur verstärkt wird.
Anmerkung:
Von van Alsloot sind vergleichbare Gemälde bekannt, so etwa eine Landschaft mit Figurenstaffage im Bonnefantenmuseum in Maastricht, welche mit 1608 datiert ist, was die Datierung unseres Gemäldes in das erste Jahrzehnt des 17. Jahrhunderts augenfällig macht (Inventarnummer 627). Auch ein Gemälde „Orpheus spielt für die Tiere“, das 2004/05 bei Johnny van Haeften zu sehen war, zeigt die gleiche Naturauffassung. Dieses Gemälde ist auf 1610 datiert. (12612810) (13)

Unframed.
A copy of the expert´s report by Dr Klaus Ertz, Lingen, dated 6 October 2020, is enclosed. Dr Ertz, who examined the original painting, highlights that the painting is in good condition and of high quality. He suggests that the painting was created in the first decade of the 17th century and that the figures were created by an artist from the circle of the figure painter Hendrick de Clerck (ca. 1570-1629).
This object has been individually compared to the information in the Art Loss Register data bank and is not registered there as stolen or missing.
