Rest. (1110641) (10)
Giovanni Giuliani,
1663 Venice – 1744 Heiligenkreuz/Lower Austria, attributed
CLAY BOZZETTO: THREE PUTTI AROUNDAN ANVIL ON A CLOUD
Height: 35 cm.
Old monogram and date “J.B.P/1779” (?) in ink on underside.
The sculptor was active in Bologna, Venice, Tyrol and Munich. He probably studied with the famous Giuseppe Mazza. The modelling of this figural group is of high quality. The monogram could possibly refer to the French sculptor Jean Baptiste Pigalle (1714-1785). In good condition, one index finger missing. Restored.
