FLORAL FESTOON WITH PUTTI
Oil on canvas.
47.5 x 38.5 cm.
This beautiful floral festoon shows all the characteristics typical of Roman still life painting in the second half of the 17th century. The painting was executed by two different artists: the quality of the festoon points to the late work of Giovanni Stanchi, also known as “de Fiori”. Together with Mario Nuzzi, who was known by the same pseudonym, Stanchi was the master of floral painting on the Roman art scene.
