Der Bildaufbau mit schräg zum Horizont hin sich verjüngenden Bildelementen, wie hier die mit Stroh gedeckte Kate, ist ein typisches Merkmal im Werk des Malers. Im Schatten rastet ein großer Leiterwagen mit darauf sitzenden Figuren, während die Pferde an der Krippe versorgt werden. Vor hellem Firmament ein hochbeladener Heuwagen. Stilistisch bemerkenswert ist der für den Maler typische, sehr flüssige Farbauftrag. Auch die zurückhaltende Farbigkeit, die zuweilen Grisailletöne annehmen, findet sich bei Werken des Malers nicht selten. (1331278) (1) (11)
