Auf zylindrischer Basis der profilierte rote Marmorrundsockel. Darauf stehend jeweils eine in Bronze gefertigte und dunkel patinierte weibliche allegorische Figur, diese sich auf die Verherrlichung der Musik beziehend, in einer erhobenen Hand jeweils eine vergoldete Fackel mit mattierter Glasflamme haltend.
Jules-Félix Coutan (1848-1939) hatte eine sehr erfolgreiche Karriere als Bildhauer und Designer. Er gewann den Grand Prix de Rome im Jahr 1872 während seines Studiums bei Pierre-Jules Cavelier (1814-1894) an der Pariser Schule der Schönen Künste. Die nächsten vier Jahre verbrachte er an der Académie française in Rom und hatte sein brillantes Debüt auf dem Salon von 1876, der ihm die Medaille erster Klasse verlieh. Sein bedeutender Beitrag zur Dekoration der Pariser Weltausstellung von 1889, mit seinem „Brunnen des Fortschritts“, brachte Coutan eine Goldmedaille und den Grand Prix d’Honneur auf der Pariser Weltausstellung 1900 für seinen monumentalen Portikus für den Pavillon der Manufaktur von Sèvres ein. Danach trug er zur bildhauerischen Dekoration vieler wichtiger Pariser Gebäude bei, wie dem Rathaus, der Nationalbibliothek und dem Gerichtsgebäude. Zu seinem internationalen Portfolio gehören ein Giebel in der Grand Central Station in New York und ein Denkmal für Carlos Pelligrini in Buenos Aires. In den 1890er Jahren war er Entwurfsdirektor der Porzellanfabrik Sèvres, bevor er 1900 die Nachfolge von Alexandre Falguière (1831-1900) an der Pariser Akademie der Schönen Künste antrat. Seine Vision war sowohl klassisch als auch naturalistisch und seine Karriere wurde durch zahlreiche Auszeichnungen gekrönt.

Jules-Félix Coutan (1848 - 1939) had a very successful career as a sculptor and designer; he won the Grand Prix de Rome in 1872 while he trained with Pierre-Jules Cavelier (1814-1894) at the Paris École des Beaux-Arts.
His major contribution, the Fountain of Progress, for the decoration of the Paris Exposition of 1889, was awarded a gold medal. For his monumental portico for the pavilion of the Sèvres Manufacture he was awarded the Grand Prix d’Honneur at the 1900 Paris Exposition.
