In Grisailletönen dargestellt der Berg Golgota mit leicht aus dem Bildzentrum nach rechts gerücktem, isoliert stehenden Kreuz. An diesem Christus im Viernageltypus, daneben zur linken die trauernden Marien, rechts Longinus mit der Lanze, zu Pferd eventuell Stephaton.

Kompositorisch vergleichbar zwei Gemälde von Van Dyck im Koninklijke Musea voor Schone Kunsten, Brüssel, Inv.Nr. 3014 (49,5 x 43 cm) und in der St. Michielskerk in Ghent (409 x 209 cm), abgebildet in: Susan J.
