Vor unbestimmtem abgedunkeltem Grund das halbfigurige Bildnis eines jungen Manens mit purpurrotem Velum leicht nach links an dem Betrachter vorbeiblickend und mittels eines in seiner Hand liegenden Pfeiles, der ihn attributiv näher bestimmt und somit als Heiligen Sebastian ausweist. Mellin wurde zwar in Lothringen geboren, wirkte aber den größten und wichtigsten Teil seines Lebens in Italien, wo er wichtige Aufträge für den Palazzo Muti und mehrere Kirchen ausführte.
