Weite hügelige Landschaften mit in die Tiefe gestaffeltem Schlachtengetümmel, auf einer Anhöhe eine Festung, in der Ferne eine Stadt. Hofmans war Schüler von Nicolaas van Eyck (1617-1679) und zog 1660 nach Italien, wo er sich in Rom etablierte und 1682 heiratete, daraufhin bereiste er die Türkei. Rahmen minimal besch.

Europäische Privatsammlung.
Vermutlich Sammlung Sciarra, Fiano.
