In dieser Komposition wird Kaiser Nikolaus I auf dem Pferd dargestellt, begleitet von seinem Bruder Alexander II und Kaiserin Alexandra Fjodorowna, die mit ihren Töchtern in einer Kutsche sitzen. Die große mehrfigurige Komposition ist eines der seltenen Werke von Krüger, da das grafische Erbe des Künstlers in Museumssammlungen hauptsächlich durch seine Portraits repräsentiert wird. Das vorliegende Gemälde „Kaiser Nikolaus I mit seiner Familie und seinem Gefolge nach der Parade“ 1847, hat einen musealen Wert.

Die Leiterin der grafischen Abteilung des 18. – ersten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts Antonova A. Z. hat das vorliegende Werk begutachtet und die Echtheit des Werkes bestätigt: Der Aquarellstil sowie die Maltechnik stimmen mit den Werken von Franz Krüger überein. Die Signatur ist identisch mit den Referenzsignaturen des Künstlers.

Franz Krüger – deutscher Maler, Zeichner, Lithograph. Studierte und arbeitete in Berlin, war Professor an der Preußischen Akademie der Künste in Berlin. In 1832, 1836, 1841, 1844, 1847, 1850, 1851 war in Sankt Petersburg, arbeitete im Auftrag des kaiserlichen Hofs und malte mehrmals Portraits von Nikolaus I. (1270113) (10)

The composition depicts Emperor Nicholas I of Russia on horseback accompanied by his brother Alexander II, the Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, seated in a carriage with her daughters. The large multi-figure composition is a rare work by Krüger, as most of his graphic legacy in museum collections mostly comprises portraits. The present painting dating to 1847 is of museum-quality.

The head of the department for prints and drawings of the 18th and first half of the 19th century Antonova A. Z. has examined the painting on offer for sale here and confirmed its authenticity: the watercolour style and painting technique are match other works by Krüger. The signature is identical with reference signatures by the artist.

He was active in Saint Petersburg in 1832, 1836, 1841, 1844, 1847, 1850, 1851, where he was commissioned by the Imperial Court to paint several portraits for Nicholas I of Russia
