Adriaen van Stalbemt,
1580 – 1662

Die beiden Tafeln wurden von Dr. Klaus Ertz in seiner Monografie „Adriaen van Stalbemt“ publiziert. Ertz betont, dass die beiden Landschaften unter dem Einfluss der Südtirollandschaften des Roelant Savery (1576/78-1639) entstanden sind. Die fortschrittliche Raumentwicklung spräche, so Ertz, für einen Entstehungszeitrum von 1615-1620.

Es zeigt in Waldlandschaft mit sandigem Hügel einen Hirten mit Stock und Korb auf einem Baumstumpf sitzend, seine Ziegen beobachtend. Auf der Bildseite links ein weiterer Mann, hinter dem der Blick auf eine sonnenbeschienene Landschaft mit Gebäude und Torbogen fällt. Das zweite Gemälde ist auf Seite 263 unter der Nummer 20 abgebildet mit dem Titel „Bauernhof im Gebirge, 1615-1620“, Pendant zu der Nummer 87. Diese unter dem Einfluss der Südtirol-Landschaften des Roelant Savery stehende Landschaft in der typischen Stalbemt-Formsprache stammt wegen der fortschrittlichen Raumentwicklung des Vordergrunds sicher aus der Zeit 1615-1620. Es zeigt den auf einer Anhöhe an einem Flusslauf gelegenen Hof mit vielen Anbauten und einigen Staffagefiguren unter blauem Himmel (Katalogseiten in Kopie vorliegend). Retuschen.

Both works are published and illustrated in Adriaen van Stalbemt published by Dr Klaus Ertz and Christa Nietze-Ertz, Luka Verlag. The first painting is illustrated on p. 291, no. 87 titled Rast der Ziegenhirten im Wald, 1615-1620 [Goatherds Resting in the Forest]. As its counterpart in cat. no. 20, the painting was created under the influence of Roelant Savery. The second painting is illustrated on p. 263, no. 20 and titled Bauernhof im Gebirge, 1615-1620 [Farm in the Mountains] and is the counterpart to no. 87. The landscape is influenced by the Southern Tyrolean landscapes of Roelant Savery and is typical for the style of Stalbemt and was very probably created between 1615 and 1620 due to its progressive spatial design in the foreground.
