Zuweisung an den Künstler durch ausführliche Textbeschreibung im Katalog von Franco Moro, Piacenza, Terra di Frontiera. Pittori Lombardi e Liguri del Seicento, S. 50 ff., Abbildung S. 51.

Mehrfigurige Szenerie gemäß dem Evangelientext, nach dem Jesus nach seiner Verurteilung als König der Juden verspottet wurde, wobei ihm eine Krone mit Dornen aufgesetzt, ein Spottmantel umgehängt und ein Schilfrohr als Zepter gegeben wurde. Jesus hier auf einem treppenartigen Steinblock nach rechts sitzend. Die Gestalt über ihm drückt die Dornenkrone auf, rechts überreicht ein stehender Bärtiger mit Turban das Spottzepter und blickt mit spöttischem Lächeln aus dem Bild heraus. Vier weitere Figuren im linken Bildteil beteiligen sich an der Aktion. Im Hintergrund in bläulichem Licht Gebäude der Stadt Jerusalem. Das Gemälde ist in der angegebenen Literatur abgebildet und stilistisch mit weiteren Werken Giulio Cesare Procaccinis in Beziehung gesetzt, wie etwa der Trasfigurazione in einer Privatsammlung in Mailand, sowie einer Kreuzabnahme, die sich in Appenzell befindet.

Attribution to the artist according to a detailed description by F. Moro in the catalogue Piacenza, Terra di Frontiera. Pittori Lombardi e Liguri del Seicento. Dipinti e Disegni Inediti, Picaenta 2010, pp. 50, illustration p. 51.

Multi-figured scene after the gospels describing the Mocking of Jesus by the Jews after the king's conviction. A crown of thorns is placed on Jesus' head, a coat is placed around his shoulders while a common reed serves as a sceptre. The painting is illustrated in the below listed literature and its style is set in context with other works by Procaccini such as The Transfiguration held in a private collection in Milan and the Deposition from the Cross held in Appenzell.
