Dargestellt ist wohl der österreichische Offizier Joseph Franz Graf Canto d´Yrlés (1726/31 - 1779). Der Offizier in Halbfigur dargestellt, auf eine Landkarte weisend. Rechts hinter ihm öffnet sich ein von Draperie verhangenes Fenster mit Blick auf ein Heereslager mit marschierenden Soldaten. Der prachtvoll gekleidete Herr mit Maria Teresia-Orden an der Brust dekoriert. Der Graf war Feldmarschall und Commander of the Order bei der erfolglosen Schlacht um Mantua gegen die Franzosen 1796, für die er im Anschluss mit dem Commander´s Kreuz 1796 geehrt wurde. Rest. In elaborately carved frame, the pendentives decorated with fleur-de-lis and trophy motifs.

Believed to depict the Austrian officer Joseph Franz Count Canto d’Yrlés (1726/31 - 1779) shown half-length and pointing to a map. Count Canto d’Yrlés was a Field Marshal and Commander of the Order at the defeat against the French at the battle of Mantua in 1796, for which he was subsequently honoured with the Commander’s Cross in 1796. Restored.
