Der Brenta ist 174 km langer Fluss in Norditalien. Bereits im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert war der entstandene Brenta-Kanal eine viel frequentierte Reiseroute zwischen Padua und Venedig, an der zahlreiche palastähnliche Gebäude angesiedelt wurden. Dieser Kanal war präferiertes Objekt in Cimarolis Schaffen, von dem aber auch Ansichten des nahegelegenen Venedigs und Roms überliefert sind. Klar definiert sind die Umrisse der Staffagefiguren, die dem Gemälde Tiefe verleihen und in ihrem glaubhaften Gebaren, der gestaffelten Architektur Leben einhauchen. Diese Architektur kulminiert bis hin zum Campanile Venedigs, der im Hintergrund das Bildzentrum markiert.

The Brenta is a 174 km long river in northern Italy. As early as the 17th and 18th centuries, the Brenta Canal, constructed along its course, was a popular travel route between Padua and Venice, and numerous palatial buildings were constructed along its banks. This canal was a favourite subject in Cimaroli's work, although views of nearby Venice and Rome are also known.
