Die drei subtil stilisierten nackten Frauen in sanften verschwommenen Farben in beiger Landschaft vor blauem Himmel, in der typischen Manier seiner Schaffenszeit in den 30er-Jahren bis etwa 1945. Nach diesem Zeitpunkt brach er mit der Figuration und verlegte sich auf die Malerei von abstrakten Kompositionen.
Der Künstler lebte und arbeitete in Rotterdam, Paris, Madrid und ab 1911 ständig in Den Haag. Er wirkte als Maler und nach 1946 vermehrt auch als Bildhauer. Werke seiner Hand u. a. im Museum of Modern Art, New York. (14609510) (18)
