In weiter flacher Landschaft, unter hohem, gelblich schimmerndem Himmel, der fast drei Viertel des Gemäldes einnimmt, drei Kühe an einem kleinen, teils mit Schilf bewachsenem Gewässer. Eine steht im Wasser, eine andere auf der Wiese liegend und schließlich eine stolz stehende Kuh mit dunkelbraunem Fell, die den Kopf gedreht hat und aus dem Bild herausblickt; in ihrem Schatten, auf der Seite liegend, ein kleines Schaf. Im weiten Hintergrund ist die Silhouette eines Dorfes mit Kirche zu erkennen. Darstellung in der typischen Manier des Künstlers, in dessen Werk häufig eine Gruppe von drei Kühen in unterschiedlichen Haltungen zu finden sind. (1461376) (18)
