Blick auf das bewegte Meer mit hohem Wellengang und weißer Gischt in prachtvoller Farbenvielfalt, wobei die gelb-grünen Farbtöne in pastosem kurzem Pinselstrich überwiegen; im Meer zudem ein braunes Bollwerk stehend. Darüber der Himmel in differenzierten violetten, türkisen und bläulichen Farbtönen in lockerer rascher Pinselführung. Ein für den Künstler typisches, hervorragendes impressionistisches Werk. Das Gemälde entstand während Maufras Aufenthalt in Étretat im Frühjahr 1895.

A superb impressionistic work typical of the artist. The painting was created during Maufra’s stay in Étretat in the spring of 1895.
