Die Ansicht des Dogenpalastes und der Punta della Dogana weist einen relativ niedrigen Horizont auf, der der Darstellung des Himmels mit einigen dezenten Wolkenformationen viel Raum lässt. Ein betriebsames Treiben der Staffagefiguren lockert die Atmosphäre auf. Das Gemälde orientiert sich an der Malart des Giovanni Antonio Canal, genannt „Canaletto“, ist jedoch erst im 19. Jahrhundert als Grand-Tour-Erinnerung entstanden. (1461972) (4) (10)
