Über den Nil mit einigen Booten hinweg gleitet der Blick auf eine große orientalische Gebäudeanlage mit Kuppeln und Minaretten, zudem gesäumt von Palmen unter stimmungsvollen rötlich-blauem Himmel.
Der Künstler war ein deutscher Architektur- und Landschaftsmaler sowie Illustrator der Düsseldorfer Schule. Er studierte an der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf bei Eugen Gustav Dücker (1841 – 1916). Im Verlauf seiner Orientreisen, wie nach Konstantinopel, Kairo und Mekka, entstanden zahlreiche orientalistische Werke, die bald zu seinen begehrtesten Kunstobjekten zählten. (1460591) (2) (18)
