Der Künstler ab 1677 Meister der Antwerpener Gilde, wirkte in Antwerpen in den Jahren 1706-1723 in Den Haag.
 
Feinst gezeichnet das Gemüse: Salate, Zwiebeln an einem Strang zusammenhängend, Orangen, Zitronen, Wurzelgemüse, all das reiht sich zentral um eine Hermenfigur auf. Um das Stillleben herum die belebenden Figuren eines schlittschuhfahrenden und zwei Feuer anfachenden Putti.
Die Figurenstaffage mag von Gaspar Jacob von Opstal II stammen, welcher auch die Putti besorgte, welche beim RKD unter Nummer 191199 ein Bild Verbruggens beleben (Auktion Dorotheum, 31. März 2009, lot 48. (12115124) (13)

The figure staffage may have been added by Gaspar Jacob von Opstal II who also painted the putti in a painting by Verbruggen listed at the RKD with no. 191199 (Auction Dorotheum, 31 March 2009, lot 48).
