Düstere, schwermütig wirkende Waldlandschaft mit dramatischen Wolkenformationen. Im Mittelgrund blitzen einige steil abfallende Felswände hell hervor, die den Rand eines Flusslaufes markieren.
Von 1857 bis 1863 stellte Saint-Étienne im Pariser Salon aus und zeigte 1862 auch Landschaftsdrucke auf der Internationalen Ausstellung in London. (1461667) (3) (10)
