Der Blick von leicht erhöhtem Standpunkt aus über den belebten Markusplatz mit zahlreichen, elegant gekleideten Figuren in der Mode des Barock, auf den Markusdom und den hohen, von der Sonne beschienenen Campanile, der in den hellblauen Himmel mit nur wenigen weißen Wolken ragt. Umschlossen wird der Markusplatz von den alten und neuen Prokuratien, von denen auf dem Gemälde das rechtsseitige Gebäude im Schatten liegt. Darstellung eines der beliebten Motive von Venedig.
