Die beiden Figuren im starkwandigen Hohlguss, schöne Alterspatina. Der eine Reiter teilt mit seinem (fehlenden) Schwert seinen Mantel, was auf den Heiligen Martin weist, der andere hielt in den Händen ehemals einen Gegenstand. Die Pferde fehlen, stattdessen auf sattelförmige samtbezogene Aufsteller gesetzt.
Es wird angenommen, dass Fanelli zunächst bei Giambologna (um 1529–1608), dann bei Pietro Francavilla Francqueville (1548–1615) und Pietro Tacca (1577–1640) gelernt hat. Vor seinen Aufenthalten in England ist er um 1609 in Genua nachweisbar. Lediglich eines seiner Werke – Jugendbüste von Charles II, Prince of Wales – ist signiert. Das Victoria and Albert Museum bewahrt Werke seiner Hand, wie etwa eine Reiterplastik um 1640. (1471492) (11)
