Bazzaro war ein Mailänder Bildhauer von Rang, schuf sowohl nach öffentlichen Aufträgen große Denkmäler – wie 1884 für Garibaldi in Monza, 1897 für Castiglioni, 1906 das für den Politiker Felice Cavalotti in Mailand, oder das Mausoleum für Pasquale Crespi. Sein Stil wandelte sich entsprechend vom klassizistischen Jugendstil zum Impressionismus, der sich auch in der vorliegenden Bronze zeigt.
