Beppe Ciardi,
1875 Venedig – 1932 Quinto di Treviso

Blick auf die flache italienische Landschaft mit einem ruhigen Flusslauf, an dessen rechter Uferseite ein Mann auf einem von zwei Pferden reitet, die einen alten Holzkarren ziehen, die sich im Wasser wiederspiegeln; weiter hinter ihnen ein weiterer Reiter. Am linken Flussufer ein hoher, kahler Baum, an dem ein Holzkasten hängt. Stimmungsvolle Darstellung, die Weite der Landschaft betonend, unter hohem blauen, fast wolkenlosen Himmel, der Dreiviertel der Bildfläche einnimmt. Vereinzelt rest., leichte Rahmenschäden.

Anmerkung:
Der Titel bezieht sich auf zwei Städte, Aquileia ist in der Region Friaul und liegt am Fluss Natissa, Altino liegt an der Lagune von Venedig.

Beppe Ciardi,
1875 Venice – 1932 Quinto di Treviso
Son of the painter Guglielmo Ciardi (1842/43-1917) and brother of Emma Ciardi (1879 -1933). He studied at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts Academy from 1896 to 1899.
