Antonio Aguatti,

Eingefasst in vergoldetem Rähmchen mit feinem Perlstab und Hängeöse. Mit Darstellung einer Eule in Landschaft, über einem Schäflein, das sie erlegt hat.
Das Micromosaik in seltener, feinster Ausführung, bei der die einzelnen Mosaiksteinchen mit bloßem Auge nicht mehr erkennbar sind. Der künstlerische Bildentwurf ebenso von hoher Qualität.
Die Familie Aguatti brachte gefeierte Mosaizisten hervor, Antonio war Sohn des Cesare Aguatti. Er war u. a. als Professor für die Vatikanischen Werkstätten tätig, unterhielt sein Atelier an der Piazza di Spagna 96.
Eine nahezu gleiche Darstellung, jedoch im Rechteck, wurde zusammen mit sieben weiteren Mosaiken des Künstlers 2018 bei Drouot erfolgreich verauktioniert (90.000 EUR). Werke seiner Hand u. a. im der Gilbert Collection im Victoria and Albert Museum London (Inv.Nr. LOAN: GILBERT.489:1, 2-2008). A.R. (14023116) (11)

The Aguatti family comprised celebrated mosaic artists. Antonio was the son of Cesare Aguatti. Among other things, he worked as a professor for the Vatican workshops. Signed “Aguatti” at the centre of the lower edge (hidden by the frame).
