Im Innenraum eines römischen Hauses bietet ein Teppichhändler seine wertvolle farbige Ware einem Ehepaar an. Er kniet dazu in einem langen braun-schwarzen Gewand auf einem Mosaikboden mit diversen Fischmustern. Im Hintergrund links fällt der Blick über eine Straßenreihe mit Häusern auf einen römischen Triumphbogen. Die Dame in langem rötlichen Kleid mit braunen Haaren und Sandalen blickt interessiert auf die präsentierte Ware. Neben ihr steht, in eine weiße Tunika gekleidet, mit grauen Haaren und seinen linken Arm auf einen Stock gestützt, ihr Ehemann. Die rote Wand im rechten Hintergrund bemalt mit goldenen Ranken und Arabesken. Detailreiche Malerei mit reicher Interieurausstattung, die auf ein wohlhabendes römisches Ehepaar hinweist.
