Über den italienischen Künstler Ettore Forti ist hinsichtlich seiner genauen Lebensdaten und seiner Ausbildung nichts Genaues bekannt. Der in Rom tätige Maler spezialisierte sich auf neopompeijanische Szenen des antiken römischen Lebens.
Das vorliegende, stark querformatig angelegte Gemälde widmet sich der antiken Mythologie und zeigt einen Blick in einen Wald, in dem sich drei Zentauren zu einem Fest zusammen gefunden haben. Eines der Mischwesen trägt eine Mänade auf dem Rücken, die als Begleiterin des Gefolges des Dionysos die festliche Freude bereichert. (1092047) (12)
