Langhalsige Vase mit leicht querovalem Bauch auf kurzem Fußring, die kräftige Lippe etwas auskragend. Die übrige Wandung der Vase ziert ein blauer Fond, der dekoriert ist mit weißen Spiralen, verstreuten Blüten, gelben Früchten und großen Blattranken. Lippe und Fußring umläuft ein gelbes Band. Auf der Front ist das Bildnis eines jungen Mannes in zeitgenössischem Kostüm mit gebogtem Kragen vor gelbem Fond zu sehen. Er wendet seinen Kopf etwas nach links und blickt aus dem Bildfeld. Kontrastierende Strahlen umspielen sein Haupt. Auf der Rückseite ist in der gleichen Rahmung ein büßender Heiliger zu sehen, der sich mit einem Stein an die Brust schlägt und in der anderen Hand ein Kruzifix hält. Bemalung in Blau, Mangan, Rot, Gelb, Weiß und Grün. Rest.

Maiolica drug bottle

Diameter: 15.5 cm.
Venice, 16th century.

Bottle on short foot ring, body in the form of a horizontal oval, long neck and pronounced, everted rim. There are two medallions on either side of the bottle; the remaining surface is decorated with white spirals, interspersed flowers, yellow fruit and large vines on a blue ground with a yellow band around the rim and foot ring The medallion on the front shows a young man in the cos-tume of the era with stand-up collar on a yellow ground. His head is turned to the left, gazing into the distance. Contrasting radiating beams surround his head. In an identical frame, the reverse medallion depicts a penitent Saint striking his chest with a stone and holding a crucifix in the other hand. Painted in blue, manganese, red, yellow, white and green. Restored.
